[00:01:03] But it was interesting to hear some of these people talk about having to make that choice. So I thought that was a little uplifting. I mean, I will say that who-- I forget what I was watching, but they were, they didn't mean to mock it, but you could tell at the beginning they were just kind of like, like a eye roll kind of thing.

[00:01:21] And then they listened to them, and then they realized that, you know, there are some elements of the cult aspect of it. And so they had a, like a expert on cults or whatever saying how some of it does matter or whatever. So anyways, interesting for anybody who's

[00:01:38] Andrea: that it's really hard, you know, when you've made this kind of the center of your life and your whole personality. I was driving down the freeway the other day and it like, I was next to, I wanna say it was a Subaru, which, you know, there's a certain, I don't know, prejudice that you have when you see someone driving a Subaru.

[00:01:58] And on the side of it was like one of those like enforcer skulls that had like a flag, and then it had the Donald Trump hair. It was kind of cartoonish. And then I looked at the lady and she looked like exactly the kind of woman that you would think drives a Subaru, right? Very sort of crunchy granola looking

[00:02:22] Carmen: I was just gonna say I'm confused by the Subaru thing, okay? 'Cause I'm like, I'm thinking hiker.

[00:02:28] Andrea: Yes. Well, I know, that's what I'm saying. Like it's like the, the state car of Colorado, you know, like that kind of a thing, right? And so like it just didn't go together. And, and so, and it had like the b- and it was like the whole passenger window had this thing on it, right? And I was like, okay, lot, lot of things going on here.

[00:02:49] First of all, like he's not a tough enforcer, but whatever, you know. W- and then it's like the cartoon hair. I'm like, is that funny? Like I don't under- like is this a joke? I, I don't really get it. But kinda going along with what you were saying, like there are people who like this is their whole thing. I d- I saw another guy yesterday had ultra MAGA on, sticker on the back of his truck, amongst all kinds of other things, right?

[00:03:16] And I was just like, "That's all you got, man? That, that's your life?" Like, and so my point is, I think it must be really hard to like deprogram yourself if you start to question, right? You have to get over the like questioning piece of it and then actually try to back away and I, and I imagine that's hard.

[00:03:38] Carmen: It's hard to see you be compassionate. I don't know. Towards MAGA people, I mean. I'm just

[00:03:46] Andrea: I mean, I think they're fucking idiots, don't get me wrong, but

[00:03:48] Carmen: okay. But, okay, there's the Andrea I

[00:03:53] Carmen: I-- look at, I spoke to, uh, a woman yesterday who's 103 years old. Um, clearly one of my clients. Um, but we were going through her credit card because she was having some issues. This woman... Listen, if I could be as, um, on it and with it that I'm texting in my 90s and 100s, I think you're good. You know what I mean?

[00:04:26] Carmen: But so we're going through her thing, and I was laughing 'cause I was like, "You have to stop giving money to this Republican."

[00:04:32] She's like, "I love Trump. I love Trump." Like, she says it

[00:04:36] Andrea: Oh, shit

[00:04:36] Carmen: And I'm like, "You know, it's so weird 'cause I love you, but like you, you, you have to stop." She's like, "I know. Now it-- I just do it 'cause it bothers you." Like it was so cute.

[00:04:46] Andrea: Okay, I can relate to that.

[00:04:50] Carmen: Which is really like, if you're 103 and that's your thing, I'm fine with it. Like, I'm not gonna fight with you, and it's kind of because we've had an honest conversation, um, about why I'm against it. This was a while ago, and then we agreed to not talk about it ever again. But every once in a while, like going through her Amex card, and she keeps giving so much money to...

[00:05:10] That's a whole other issue. Uh, but it was just kind of an interesting thing where I'm like, you know what? There are some people I'm not going to bother with. Like, it's okay. You know what I mean? But for those people who are just trying to figure out, like ultra MAGA, what does that even mean? Like, uh

[00:05:28] Andrea: I mean, he ha- like it was one of those big ass trucks that probably cost like $100,000 and then like the, the Chevrolet or Ford or whatever it was had like the American flag color. Like it was just, you s- I see a lot of those where I live, but I

[00:05:43] Carmen: yeah, I don't see a lot

[00:05:45] Andrea: ultra racist, I guess. Like, uh, you know, like that's what I assume.

[00:05:49] It's like, "Okay, stay the fuck away from me,

[00:05:50] please. I'm gonna move three lanes over because you're psycho." 

[00:05:53] Carmen: Yeah, like if you're still hanging on now, y- you, you have a problem. I mean, I thought you had a problem way beforehand, but it, the evidence is... It's not even the evidence, it's like he does not care about you. He never has

[00:06:15] Andrea: I mean? Like, I don't know. It's above me.

[00:06:19] Carmen: It's above my pay grade. I, I don't get it, so... But yeah. So I, I saw that, and I thought that was interesting. But can we talk about Mamdani, you know?

[00:06:29] Carmen: Uh, he's become the kingmaker clearly, 'cause all of his candidates, uh, won the other day, you know, so he's three for three. I love...

[00:06:38] Okay, so I'll say a couple things. Number one, I love that he's using his political capital now. He's not saving it for himself. He's not... He's just doing what we want politicians to do, and I think people get confused by the word socialism.

[00:06:54] Andrea: I agree.

[00:06:56] Carmen: Yeah. And he is not redistributing wealth. He is not

[00:07:02] Andrea: and communism are not the same things.

[00:07:04] Carmen: Yeah. But, but I think it's even, uh, it's even more delicate than that.

[00:07:08] ' Cause look at-- You know I can't stand Bernie Sanders. I can't. I can't stand him. But Bernie Sanders and Mam, um, Donnie are in the same ballpark, you know? Um, and AOC as well, you know? I have my issues with Bernie Sanders 'cause I went to school at UVM, and when I was at UVM, he did not do the work he said he was going to do when he had an opportunity to help students of color who were taking over the campus, blah, blah, blah.

[00:07:34] Google it. Um, so w- w- my whole thing is that when you have an opportunity to actually do something and then you show yourself not to actually do something, uh, that is a stain for me. Like,

[00:07:48] Andrea: Well, we know who you are, right?

[00:07:49] Carmen: yeah, I know who you are. So, but with that said, you know, looking at Mamdani and just being so proud of him, I don't know.

[00:07:59] Wanna see what your thoughts were on

[00:08:02] Andrea: I mean, look, I'm thrilled because I am a lifelong socialist. I will say that. Like, I am a, you know, I'm a-- I've been a registered Democrat since I was 18, uh, and there ain't, there ain't nobody more base than me, right? Like, I am the Democratic base and I believe in all of those socialistic principles. I do.

[00:08:25] I, I-- and I always have. And so to me, that was very exciting. And I think, you know, with regards to Mamdani, uh, you know, he is very focused on New York. He is the mayor of New York. He, he really can't... I mean, he could maybe go to Congress or be a senator, but obviously he can never be president, right? Um-

[00:08:46] Carmen: And for people who don't know, it's because he was born in Africa

[00:08:48] Andrea: Right.

[00:08:49] Um, but he, we talked about this I think last time, right? He loves New York.

[00:08:55] Carmen: Mm-hmm.

[00:08:56] Andrea: He's one of those New Yorkers that love, love, love New York. I, like all of them are like that, but like he truly, really loves it, and I think he's very focused on that. And h- he seems to be a very authentic, uh, optimistic, happy person.

[00:09:13] And, um, you know, you use the word kingmaker, and I, I kinda like, I think that's interesting. I think it's true. I think it's interesting, and I think it's an absolute tragedy that, you know, Democratic party machine and leadership see him as a threat rather than the future or the present.

[00:09:37] Carmen: people are confused what socialism means, and I'm not even talking about communism. The... What he's doing right now is actually doing the things we want so that we could be similar to other countries like Germany and, I don't know, um, let me see, New Zealand and Scandinavian countries, which is just, it doesn't mean there isn't capitalism, it means that we have things like universal healthcare, we have childcare, we have the things that you want government to work for.

[00:10:09] And I think Switzerland's a little bit different, but it's the same kind of idea. But in the United States, we've warped what the word social- we've made it the boogeyman. The word socialism has become this, um, you know, horri- they, they're confusing it with communism for sure, but also this idea that you're just...

[00:10:28] Like if I become wealthy, somehow I cannot keep my money and, and have all the things I want, and it has to be given to everyone else in the, in, in the country, and that's not it at all. 

[00:10:39] Andrea: Well, it's about using our apparently unlimited taxpayer funds, uh,

[00:10:47] Andrea: improve people's lives as opposed to enriching, uh, our politicians or, uh, I don't know, creating an algae-festering, you know, mess i-

[00:11:05] Carmen: was vandals. You need to stop. That was vandals. Because as the head of Antifa, like, what we would spend our time doing is finding a way without... And by the way, Washington DC has been a military kind of place since I don't know when. There's been military all over the place.

[00:11:27] It's been like a police state. The idea that, that Antifa people would go with a box cutter, again, why would we use a box cutter? We know how to swim underwater and what would work best. Like, and cut through... I mean, he's

[00:11:43] Andrea: Yeah, well, and there's no, I mean, like, well, there's no evidence of it. There are cameras on it at all times. Like, just

[00:11:50] Carmen: Why would we do that?

[00:11:52] Andrea: It's-- And just like, we're not as dumb as you, okay? I mean, that's really the bottom line.

[00:12:02] Carmen: We would not waste our resources that way. Yeah. And you'll get-- I'm claiming the Antifa thing 'cause I'm so sick and tired of the bullshittery around Antifa because people think Antifa's actually a group. Antifa just mean, just means anti-fascist. It's not a group.

[00:12:18] There's no leader. Everyone in this country should be anti-fascist. But again, people don't know the meaning of words Simple words. I know.

[00:13:20] Carmen: Well, and also because they keep listening to someone who is so manipulative and so angry and so weird, and all he's been doing since day one, and here's the thing, I am not going to feed into this bullshittery that he's old now and something sh- No, bitch, you were not paying attention.

[00:13:39] Donald Trump has been the same man forever, since the '80s, since he came on the scene

[00:13:46] Andrea: since the fucking womb, okay? Like I, like I remember hearing about him in the '80s and was immediately icked out, and he has been the same fucking person

[00:13:58] Carmen: And, you know, it's so interesting because the other day when we were talking about the Knicks, somebody, I forget who it was, called me out on it, saying that he was... He's been a lifelong Knicks fan, and I was like, "Absolutely not. Absolutely not." Oh, I, I think it was Brian. And, and, you know, come to find out, he's been to the Knicks games forever.

[00:14:15] And in my heart, I was like, how could people hate him so much? Like, New Yorkers hate Trump more than anyone else I know. But he's such a Knick fan, so that's why when he went, he was booed, he was hated. It's like you can't be a New Yorker and be hated that much. You know what I mean?

[00:14:38] Carmen: Isn't he a Floridian now?

[00:14:39] He's not a fucking New Yorker. I don't even... Look at, look at me over here defending New Yorkers, okay? You know the world has changed because I am from Boston. Oh my God. I know, I know.

[00:14:51] Carmen: We are in the ups- We are on Earth fucking too, man. Like, it's so weird, you know? Um, but yeah. You know what? I'm so happy for Mumdani.

[00:15:00] I hope other people follow his lead. And I, and look it, I wanna say this. I, I think everyone knows Andrea is far left. I am not. I'm still not. But we've also changed what it means to be a Democrat, right? I mean, I think... Or we should be changing it.

[00:15:23] Carmen: we're in the process with Mumdani. We just want what is normal.

[00:15:28] Like, that's not socialism. Like, wanting universal healthcare or wanting people to have childcare or having, like, our streets fixed, that's what Mumdani is doing, is what we want politicians to do. And holding people accountable for owning property in states they don't live in and making them pay tax, w- what?

I, I, I think this is the other thing, and I think you said this a while back, maybe, I don't know, but I think it was you, said something like everyone always thinks in the United States that they're, like, one or two or three paychecks away from becoming a millionaire or

[00:16:10] Carmen: Yeah, one big break away from becoming a big millionaire or whatever. Lookit, I, I hope that for you. I really do. I do, and I hope so for

[00:16:18] Andrea: As do I

[00:16:20] Carmen: Yeah, as do I. We all want that. Maybe that's part of our delusional American dream thing, I have no idea. But until that happens, or even when that happens, I will pay whatever taxes or whatever my need is to pay or whatever I'm supposed to pay to help my fellow citizens, because you're part of the whole country. I don't even understand why that would

[00:16:44] Andrea: big love for the United States, we're coming up on America 250, right? If there's this big love and we're the greatest country in the world and all of those things, why do we not want to take care of each other? That's how you love people, you take care of them

[00:17:04] Carmen: Republicans come from this negative space, and I am saying this 'cause I've always believed this, where they think everybody is screwing over the c- the, the government, right? That everybody wants just a handout. And when I say everybody, they just think Black people, let's just be honest, okay? But

[00:17:22] But, but oh yeah, poor people too, we're just trying to scam. And it's so weird how the Republican Party has really held onto those beliefs that everybody is scamming the system, and yet they don't see the person scamming the system right in front of them, and doing it

[00:17:41] Andrea: we have never seen the level of scam that we are experiencing right now. We really haven't. It's unprecedented

[00:17:49] Carmen: unbelievable.

[00:17:50] Andrea: level of scamming, and they're just like, "Isn't that great? Fantastic. Yes,

[00:17:56] Carmen: but they're still upset with the immigrants or they're still upset with, you know, the, the, the woman who's getting SNAP benefits or something, you know? It's the strangest thing, and I wish people would stop thinking that way. But I, I don't even understand ... You're right. We should take care of each other.

[00:18:16] Um, I think one of the most beautiful things that's happened this week, and this will, uh, go to you, uh, watching soccer, and I am calling it soccer 'cause I learned where that motherfucking word came from, so I'ma call it soccer, okay? 'Cause I looked that shit up, okay?

[00:18:34] Carmen: I did. Uh, but the whole football, uh, what's it called?

[00:18:38] What's the ... World Cup situation has been beautiful to watch online because so many people have come to this country, and I think reminding me of how wonderful the people of the United States actually can be, you know? But we've been mired in this negativity, in this nastiness, in this division, in this, um, even amongst ourselves.

[00:19:05] I mean, I love that the world is seeing something different, but I think for myself, the reason why I'm, like, swiping and watching and crying is 'cause I'm like, "Oh my God, we, we can be better. We could do better. We can help each other."

[00:19:18] Andrea: Well, and, and many, in many ways, w-we actually are. It's not even we can be, we are. This is who we are right now. Yes, there are a lot of problems and it's like, you know, it's like when you are, uh, i-in a meeting or something or whatever, and someone w-with just like a really negative attitude comes in and it just changes the energy of the room and brings everyone down, and where you were like okay before, you're not now.

[00:19:45] That's what's happening to all of us, and has been for a fucking decade now.

[00:19:52] Andrea: A-and we're all living with that. But like, these people are experiencing, y-you know, the people who are coming to visit, you know, they're experiencing who we are today. Not that there aren't problems, but we are good people today also

[00:20:08] Carmen: but what was really g- it's so cl- like, don't get mad, but you're so optimistic right now about, about Americans, it's killing me. I have to fight with Andrea all the time, but I love this. I will say I wanna give a shout-out to the Scotts. Oh my God. Oh my God.

[00:20:28] Carmen: they are just... It, it totally makes sense to me.

[00:20:32] Like, Boston is like a big bar town, you know what I mean? So it totally makes sense to me why they just, you know... A- and now they're in Florida, right? They're in Miami or whatever. Uh, but shout-out to the

[00:20:45] Andrea: now, but yes. I said I think they're done now. They're going home,

[00:20:49] Carmen: done now? Okay, I'm just saying the other day. But it's just so much fun watching them and, um, I will say what's really funny is watching some of these people talking about the food.

[00:20:59] I was like, "You're all gonna leave." Like one guy, I, I love him, like I had to start following him, but he was like, "I went to this very famous, uh..." No, no, he said, "I went to this very fancy restaurant, Texas Roadhouse, and the food..." And I'm like, "Wait. Er. Like wait, wait, let me back up and wait." But it was so funny.

[00:21:21] And then the other day he's like, "This great place where I got chicken at Popeyes." Like I was just like... Oh, it was so... 'Cause he's being so sincere and just talking, and I'm just cracking up 'cause I, you know, you and I would never think Texas Roadhouse and Popeyes is where we'd go to eat. But I mean, we have gone.

[00:21:44] I'm not saying we wouldn't, but just 'cause we're the upper crust of the United States, so

[00:21:48] Andrea: Close to Louise. We're close to Louise.

[00:21:51] Carmen: foodies. But it's just, it was just so adorable and, and they're really hung up on the refills. Like

[00:21:58] Andrea: Well, yeah, you can't get-- Well, and like free bathrooms. Fucking hell.

[00:22:02] Carmen: Yeah. It just, it's been kind of endearing and a reminder, like you said, of who we actually are. I think you're right. That's a great analogy that you said. Um,

[00:22:08] I think watching the

[00:22:13] Obamas open up their, uh, library, whatever it is, uh, community center. It's more than just a library. It's so huge. Um, and having that moment of just pure joy, you know, was kind of like what I remembered from a long time ago, and I want that back. So it was great to watch people from the World Cup kinda talk about that too and kinda remind us who we actually are today.

[00:22:43] But it's hard. You know, even this morning I watched, like, prominent Democrats, whose names I'm not going to say right now 'cause I wanna give them a moment to retract their statement, talking badly about Mamdani

[00:22:57] Andrea: They're up in arms, man. They, they can't deal with... They're, they are as mad, more mad about this and more ready to fight this than they have been all of the rest of the everything else that's going on. It's like, if we had seen any of this, you might still be in office. Like, what the fuck?

[00:23:17] Carmen: But I don't even understand, I don't understand the argument. Like, what, what are Democrats upset about?

[00:23:26] Andrea: I do not know

[00:23:27] Carmen: We should be rejoicing in the fact that he's been able to do what he's doing

[00:23:33] Andrea: There's just a I

[00:23:34] Carmen: think it's the establishment thing, right? Like they wanna continue power

[00:23:38] Andrea: anointed person excuse me.

[00:23:41] Carmen: It's kind of like, um, it's kind of, and I say this respectfully, but one of the things that pisses me off about Nancy Pelosi is, you know, the way in which she treated, um, AOC and all of them.

[00:23:54] Um, even though they were green and I think they overstepped a bit, there was this weird thing like, "No, I am the establishment. I'm in power. I will..." And it's a weird... I don't even think it's a hard dance to dance. Like, if you understand that you are getting older and new blood is walking in the room, you find a way to work with them, and I will

[00:24:16] Andrea: and

[00:24:17] Carmen: be upset with her about that

[00:24:18] Andrea: leadership is the primary purpose, one of them, is to prepare the next generation. It's mentorship. It's offering a hand rather than a kick in the face, right? And that's exactly what she did. You know, she was upset that they won, particularly AOC, because she beat a longstanding incumbent who Pelosi had a good relationship with.

[00:24:44] And instead of, like you said, they were green and they overstepped. Guess how they could've fixed that? By having a good mentor, right? By having someone who was like, "Hey, yep, didn't go my way, but I'm glad you're here, and here's how it goes," right? If she had been that person to them, it would've looked a lot different.

[00:25:00] Carmen: And it, and it's so weird too because I, I, I put, we can just slide into this next conversation, but it is that inability to understand your place as an elder as you get older to move the fuck out the way. Like, I... It, it makes me sad, but when I think of Dianne Feinstein... Was it Dianne Feinstein?

[00:25:20] Andrea: Uh, yes, it was

[00:25:22] Carmen: Uh, and Nancy Pelosi or whatever, I have a bitter negative taste in my mouth about their legacies.

[00:25:28] Uh, R- Ruth Bader Ginsburg, although, you know, you know, she, you know, she gonna be what she gonna be, but there was also that situation too where it just... You okay, my friend? Yeah,

[00:26:00] Carmen: right out. I mean, 'cause all the rumors were happening on social media that the senator from Kentucky, Mitch McConnell, had died. It was a rumor, it wasn't
