All About The Joy
Defending Dr. Fauci and Falling for Reacher’s Alan Ritchson
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
On this episode of Culture and Consequence, Carmen and Andrea dive into two major topics sparking serious conversation and outrage.
First, Carmen leads a passionate rant on the recent Senate hearing involving Dr. Anthony Fauci. They break down the political theater, the vast resume gap between Dr. Fauci and his congressional critics like Senator Rand Paul, and why misrepresenting a public servant’s lifelong career is a dangerous sign of civic degradation.
The hosts also touch on the importance of civic education, recommending shows like The West Wing and The American President to help everyday citizens understand how government actually works.
Then, the mood shifts to pop culture as Carmen and Andrea react to viral clips of actor Alan Ritchson. From his raw, unfiltered outrage over public accountability and the Epstein files to his lead role in Reacher and his upcoming silent action thriller Motor City, they discuss why his authentic passion and charm have completely won them over.

[00:00:16] Carmen:
[00:00:16] Andrea: Oh my God.
[00:00:18] Carmen: It's okay. You know what's so funny? When you, when you first logged on, I was... I'm still in a bad mood, but I was really like, I'm angry bad mood, like angry bad
[00:00:29] Andrea: Oh, that should be fun because I am as well. So here
[00:00:33] Carmen: Okay, why don't you go first? 'Cause I feel like I need a
[00:00:35] Andrea: Oh, my-- I mean, like, why am I in a bad mood? Just everything fucking sucks, and I've got car repairs. My fucking refrigerator isn't working. Like...
[00:00:45] Carmen: What do you mean your refrigerator isn't working?
[00:00:47] Andrea: It's working, but it's not at the correct temperature, so it's cool but not cold. The freezer is cold but not freezing.
[00:01:00] Andrea: Like
[00:01:03] Carmen: Oh, yeah. So my issues is I'm, I am tired of people doing the least amount of fucking work, like showing up with the least amount of effort and then demanding and getting everything that they want. Like, I'm tired of it. I feel like it's been my entire life.
[00:01:24] Andrea: Let's see. The first part of that I was like, "Actually, I'm fine with that because ain't none of us got any energy." But it's the second part that's the problem.
[00:01:32] Carmen: No, no, no, no, no. It's not, it, you know... Okay, I know what you're saying, but it, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm just talking about, like, you know, just to get into the fucking Dr. Fauci thing, like never in a million years did I think I would have, like, like I'd be defending Dr. Fauci for shit. Like, what the fuck?
[00:01:51] Carmen: You know what I mean? Like, I didn't even really know who he was except that, uh, he was the head of the NIH, you know what I mean? And did a lot for AIDS and HIV back in the '80s. But that was like... Like, if you had asked me on a multiple choice test and I had two names to choose from, I wouldn't have been like, "Dr.
[00:02:09] Carmen: Fauci!" You know what I mean? I would've been like, "Uh."
[00:02:12] Andrea: None of us knew really who he was, right?
[00:02:14] Carmen: No, until COVID, but I, I just, his resume alone... First of all, can we just say he's 85 years old. 85 years old. He has been in service to this country forever, for over 54 years or something. Um, and he, you know, I, I, I pulled out his resume. I'm not gonna do his whole resume, but he's the co-archi- um, architect of PEPFAR, which is, he was working with George W.
[00:02:49] Carmen: Bush, and it's the Primary Architect of the Plan For AIDS Relief, which is a huge, big deal. He saved over 25 million lives. That's not even a question. Nobody argues that. That is absolutely true. He pioneered the HIV/AIDS breakthroughs, right? He cured the fatal autoimmune diseases. Um, he has advised seven US presidents.
[00:03:15] Carmen: He is the frontline epidemic commander. He successfully led the US medical research responses through 2001 anthrax bioterrorism scares, 2009 swine flu. This is... I just pulled out the items that I'm aware of, you know what I mean? That I, that made sense to me
[00:03:35] Andrea: The top level things.
[00:03:37] Carmen: Well, that, that I was a, that I was a, not even top level, 'cause I didn't, I like, I don't even know what that is, but I remember vaguely these things.
[00:03:44] Carmen: He's one of the most cited scientists ever. he has 62 honorary degrees recognized through universities around the world, around the world, okay?
[00:04:00] Carmen: Rand Paul. I wanna give you the senator of Kentucky's resume, and he- here's the reason why it's kind of laughable, and I'm sorry, I'm on a rant today, but it's gonna be a Dr. Fauci appreciation motherfucking day for me 'cause I'm pissed because this is the degradation of our country. This is the problem when you think you are better than who you are, and you think you can be this fucking disrespectful...
[00:04:29] Carmen: This is all Trump. This is, Trump has led this fucking bandwagon on thinking you can just fucking be an asshole and just decide that you are better than everyone else and tell everyone that you are, and then treat people like shit. Paul is an ophthalmologist. He's a eye doctor, and not to be dismissive, he's an eye surgeon, okay?
[00:04:54] Carmen: That's a big deal. That's a big deal. He hasn't practiced in a long time, but it's a very different thing than what Dr. Fauci does. And to put it in perspective, 'cause I had to figure out what would be an a- an analogy, if you had an electrician who could go to your house and figure out the problems of your electricity in your home, that's Rand Paul.
[00:05:14] Carmen: Dr. Fauci is the city's... Like, he handles the city and the country's wireframes or whatever they're called. He's the chief civil engineer, okay? He would design the entire city's municipal grid. Those are two fucking different types of thing, even though they fall under the same kind of subject, okay?
[00:05:36] Carmen: Rand Paul is a fucking asshole. He is the senator of Kentucky. He's an ophthalmologist. he had a big, huge, huge national board, certification dispute in 1990, with the Board of Ophthalmology over certification rules, and so then he created his own board so he could be certified
[00:05:59] Andrea: Disturbing.
[00:06:00] Carmen: Honey, if that isn't white privilege.
[00:06:02] Carmen: Can you imagine? Like,
[00:06:02] Andrea: Right.
[00:06:03] Carmen: "I don't like your rules, so I'ma create my own." he's the author and constitutional libertarian, that's what he is, and he was a presidential candidate in 2016. I'm just saying those two things are not the same. Those two things are not the same.
[00:06:20] Andrea: No. No,
[00:06:21] Carmen: So the reason why we're bringing this up is be- or I'm bringing it up, 'cause clearly I'm on fire about it, and, and Jenna's the more measured thing.
[00:06:29] Carmen: But, um, he... Anthony Fauci was brought into the Senate hearing room on Wednesday. He got sworn in, and he refused to answer every single question, invoking his Fifth Amendment right more than 100 times, and he had been pardoned preemptively by Biden because Biden knew this was going to happen. They were going to try to go after him because Senator Kentucky-ass motherfucking Rand Paul wants him in prison.
[00:07:03] Carmen: Just wants him behind bars, and he says it all the time. So I, I'm just tired of people with the least amount of effort trying to be the be-all end... And I swear to God it's been my entire life that I've been around people, I don't mean in politics, just in general, you watch people doing the least amount of shit, and they, they then treat other people like crap when there's no reason to, and it rubs me the wrong way.
[00:07:33] Carmen: Okay, that's my rant. I'm done now. Go ahead. You can have the rest of the time.
[00:07:38] Andrea: No, I think that's fair. I, I thought you were just sort of talking about general at work, but, like, even then, yes, I, I get it. Um, I'm just more like, I am ready to do the least amount right now. Like,
[00:07:48] Carmen: Yeah.
[00:07:48] Andrea: gonna go and lay down after this because I'm fucking done.
[00:07:52] Carmen: Yeah. I agree with you. I agree with you that, but I'm just talking about Dr. Fauci, the
[00:07:56] Andrea: yeah. I mean, the, the, the Dr. Fauci thing is so sickening and, you know, just d- uh, like you said, this is, it's, it's, it's what's wrong with us right now.
[00:08:09] Andrea: Like, as you said, this man, he has devoted his entire professional life to keeping people alive, to public health, and I, I still don't even really understand why they hate him so much. I don't really have any w- uh, reason-- I don't under- I don't know why they brought him, like what was the sort of, you know, uh, precipitating event why he was in front of the Senate.
[00:08:40] Andrea: Um, I do, I do think there are a few things at play here, though. I think number one, they know that there's a lot of people on the base who, in the base I should say, who hate him for reasons I don't understand. But, um, and they know that they, you know, are crashing and burning in the polls, so they wanna bring out sort of their greatest hits of like, "Oh, remember?
[00:09:01] Andrea: Like, remember? Let's, let's get outraged again. Um, remember how you hate this guy? Let's get on TV and, you know, cuss at this 85-year-old public health servant, um, and get you all riled up again." I think that's definitely part of it. I think it's also, um, a warning or, or even a threat to other civil servants, people working in government or government-adjacent, um, roles that's telling them essentially, "If we can do this to Anthony Fauci, if we can do this to this celebrated, renowned scientist, uh, you know, doctor, public health servant, we can definitely do it to you, so get yourself in line."
[00:09:43] Andrea: Um, and I think also just fundamentally, n- you know, they are anti-health. You know, anything having to do with, you know, bettering people's lives. They're anti-science. They're anti-intelligence. They are threatened and intimidated by anyone who is more educated, more experienced, kinder, uh, you know, like all of those things.
[00:10:09] Andrea: All of that stuff I think comes into play and it just, it looks and feels so disgusting.
[00:10:18] Carmen: You know, I mean, yes to all of that. I think, I, I, I think what bothers me too is watching in real time the manipulation of the American people. Stupid ass fucktard Sean Hannity on his show just doubling down. Josh Hawley, who... Josh Hawley, uh, the senator, where the fuck is he from? Yeah, I'm gonna be swearing all day today 'cause I, I am beside myself.
[00:10:48] Andrea: I think he's from Missouri, but lives in Virginia.
[00:10:51] Carmen: No, Missouri.
[00:10:52] Andrea: but lives in Virginia
[00:10:54] Carmen: I was shooketh. He's a sen- Josh Hawley is a senator of Missouri. Let me tell you his little background of bullshittery. Uh, he has a bachelor's at Stanford, a law degree at Yale. I love how they hate all this elite...
[00:11:07] Carmen: I didn't go to any of these elite schools, but you know, whatever. And he was Missouri's attorney general, but he thought it was okay to get up there and speak in the way in which he spoke to Anthony F- lookit, I, I am not sitting here saying that, that the senators don't have a right to question, but this is all fucking theater.
[00:11:27] Carmen: Senator Rand Paul put out Fauci's diaries, journals right before the hearing, his personal journals of Anthony Fauci talking about what's happening, right? So he's writing in his journals every day what's going on during the, um, du- during the pandemic. And he's writing things like, "I spoke to Barbra Streisand today," or, "I spoke to..."
[00:11:52] Carmen: Because all these celebrities were getting in touch with him. Um, and they leave out that it was because he was being offered an award, right? He was being given an award, so the celebrities were calling him. And so he's writing in glee and in joy like, "I can't believe Barbra Streisand," you know, "I spoke to Barbra Strei-" But in the hearing, they're leaving all that out.
[00:12:13] Carmen: What they're trying to do is act like Anthony Fauci is like, "Oh, I love all my stardom. I have all these peop-"
[00:12:20] Andrea: He's a clout chaser.
[00:12:22] Carmen: Yes! I'm like, this is
[00:12:24] Andrea: He is the cloud. He doesn't need to chase
[00:12:27] Carmen: What the fuck? They're acting, and then they're saying all these nasty things because they're leaving out the other... If you looked at my... Everybody knows, everybody knows I write in a journal every fucking day, every day.
[00:12:42] Carmen: If you came and took my journals, you could take pieces of it and be like, "Oh, Carmen is such a bitch. She thinks she's better than everyone." You know, because I'll write in there sometimes like, "I cannot believe how dumb these motherfucking people are," because that's me venting. But if you take it out of context, and take it out of the fact that I'm at work with a bunch of people who are being mean to other people, that's what you're going to...
[00:13:10] Carmen: And that's what they did. And the irony is, is those journals make him look good. They don't make him look bad. They make him look like a man who is so concerned about what is happening. You know, they... Look it, I also want to stop hearing this bullshittery about, like, so many people came out and were like, "You know, I have so many disagreements with the CDC during the COVID pandemic."
[00:13:38] Carmen: You do, do ya? Are you a doctor? Like, do you... What the fuck? It was a pandemic. Were mistakes made? Yes, but you know what? It wasn't about using ivermectin or whatever the fuck that thing is, or putting bleach in your veins. There were mistakes made in the process of trying to walk through a pandemic
[00:14:03] Andrea: Well, and I think also let us all take ourselves back to that time period and let's remember who was actually making decisions, who was actually doing the things. Dr. Fauci is in, was in a role where he makes recommendations. He had no power to, you know, institute lockdown or a mask mandate or-- He could recommend things, which he did, which were based on science and, you know, clear public health principles for dealing with this sort of thing.
[00:14:41] Andrea: But who actually implemented this shit in April 2020?
[00:14:49] Carmen: I just It boggles my mind that people a- are so ready to be hateful and angry and pissed off and not see the street. Like, of course, who was in charge during that time? Sadly, millions of people died because Donald Trump was in charge, right? The interesting thing is, by the way, all those senators got their fucking COVID shots immediately.
[00:15:18] Carmen: The COVID
[00:15:19] Andrea: They got them before the rest of us
[00:15:20] Carmen: Yeah, before the rest of us. They all got taken care of because they actually have medic- like, medical benefits that are supplied by taxpayers fully and completely, and they have the best medical care. If you're a congressman or a senator, you get the best medical care.
[00:15:39] Carmen: You're all set. I don't know if you don't... You might have to pay, like, a small co-payment or something, but I even doubt that. It doesn't matter. They have the best care ever. They all got their COVID. They should all be thanking Anthony Fauci. That's what is killing me
[00:15:53] Andrea: Yeah. Yeah
[00:15:56] Carmen: That poor man yesterday just sitting there. But you know what? He was, he was fine. It just, it shouldn't have even happened. And then I'm like, Biden again. You know what? Brilliant. He preemptively pardoned him on purpose. Preemptively. Same thing he did with Hunter Biden, because he knew these people would just go after them because that's what they do with no actual evidence.
[00:16:23] Carmen: I don't know. I don't know. Um, I'll just read the rest of this from, um... This is other98.com, which is a really liberal to the left, but they kind of surmised what was happening. Um, "Senate Homeland Security Chairman Rand Paul, who has spent years trying to nail Fauci to the wall over COVID origins and gain-of-function research, released over 1,000 pages of Fauci's personal pandemic diary right before the hearing, hoping the entries would trip him up.
[00:16:56] Carmen: Instead, Fauci sat there calm as ever and read the same lawyer-scripted line every time. Paul was livid and afterward announced the committee will vote next week on holding Fauci in contempt of Congress." don't go after the Epstein files. Don't. Don't do that. Don't be as aggressive with the Epstein files as you are with Dr. Fauci, who's trying-- is retired, I believe, now, and like
[00:17:24] Andrea: As one should be at 85.
[00:17:27] Carmen: Jesus Christ. I don't know. It was so embarrassing. And then of course, the last thing I wanna say about this, unless you have more you wanna add, I, I'm, I'm just heartbroken, but the senator from Ohio, Senator Moreno... Listen, I swear like a truck driver. There's no doubt about it. I have no qualms about swearing.
[00:17:47] Carmen: When I feel like there needs to be a adjective or an emphasis, I will swear and I do it and I ain't gonna apologize for it. And if you don't know that by now, I don't know what to tell you. But I would never in a million years be in Congress on the Senate floor. Did you hear what he said? He was like,
[00:18:04] Andrea: did.
[00:18:05] Carmen: to Dr.
[00:18:06] Carmen: Fauci, "Who the fuck do you think you are?" I was like Wow. Now I would think that would take everything in me if I was Dr. Fauci. I would be like, "Bitch, let me tell you who I is." You know what I mean?
[00:18:23] Andrea: You're like, "I'm just sliding my CV across the table for you, you stupid, stupid, sad little man."
[00:18:32] Carmen: What the hell? I thought that was
[00:18:35] Andrea: Well, I,
[00:18:35] Carmen: pathetic
[00:18:36] Andrea: let me not to get too into the like super tea, but like you also heard about the whole thing with, uh, this Moreno guy and his daughter who is married to...
[00:18:49] Carmen: another senator, right? Like he has a whole criminality thing happening, right?
[00:18:53] Andrea: who is, you know, allegedly abusing his daughter and it, he chose not to stick up for his daughter, but is sitting across the table from Anthony Fauci asking him who the fuck he thinks he is.
[00:19:06] Andrea: None of these people have any credibility whatsoever.
[00:19:12] Carmen: None. And, and I would say again, it goes back to the thing, they don't even have the right... Because they have such sketchy backgrounds. And I, I honestly think Rand Paul is just, like, incredibly jealous of Dr. Fauci. Um, I, I-- because it's a weird thing. Like, if anything, I would be like, "You know, we're both doctors," you know what I mean?
[00:19:36] Carmen: Like, I feel like he would try
[00:19:38] Andrea: Meet me at the country club. We can work this out.
[00:19:41] Carmen: I mean? But when you, when-- but, but he can't do that because he's not the same kind of doctor as Dr. Fauci is. And it's this weird thing that you're going to be angry with the guy who actually saved thousands of lives in a, in an, an incredibly horrible situation, but you're not upset with the people that were trying to put in the horse ivermectin and the other, the bleaching thing.
[00:20:09] Carmen: You're not mad at the crazy people or JFK Junior, who is up there, you know, also slamming it. RFK. RFK. Sorry, JFK, but sorry. It's so, so the same. I apologize, President Kennedy. Uh, I, I still can't believe that's the son of Robert Kennedy. It's fucking gross, isn't it?
[00:20:31] Andrea: It's fucked up, yeah.
[00:20:33] Carmen: Robert Kennedy was an amazing human being Okay, that's a whole other conversation. you imagine being just so disappointed that your children turned out a certain way?
[00:20:46] Andrea: Yeah, we
[00:20:47] Carmen: He knows that he does. He is such a waste of energy. Um, I was just really upset about the Fauci thing, and I, I really wanna encourage people a couple of things, and I don't think you'll disagree with this. I know you don't care about this show that much 'cause you don't like the writer and the creator of the show.
[00:21:07] Carmen: But seriously, I need people to learn about how our government works, and if you don't wanna read about it, you don't wanna study it, the easiest way to learn about it, and you can enjoy the process, is by watching The West Wing. I swear to God. The movie, The American President, you could start there with Michael Douglas and Annette Bening, really cute, fun, romantic rom-com.
[00:21:27] Carmen: Then you can go from there and watch the TV show, The West Wing, and you can learn the basics of how our country works. And, uh, the president is played by Martin Sheen, and he's Catholic. All of his Christianity is on display in this. It really is. Like, there's a Republican who I love, who I think is one of the best characters brought onto the show, Ainsley Hayes, because there's a...
[00:21:53] Carmen: So it's not just a whole liberal kind of thing. It's a great show that teaches you about how our country, how the, how our Constitution is set up and the way in which it's supposed to work, because I feel like that's part of the problem. People do not understand how it works. A- and so I'm encouraging that people fucking read a book or watch a show.
[00:22:16] Carmen: I don't know, do one of them. Please, for the love of Jesus
[00:22:20] Andrea: Do something.
[00:22:23] Carmen: It's so disappointing to me. But, uh, Barack Obama got out there and started, uh, uh, endorsing candidates, which I was a little surprised by actually
[00:22:35] Andrea: He must really like this guy 'cause yeah, it's like, is, is it, it's for the primary, right? Or-
[00:22:41] Carmen: It's, it's, uh, no, uh, no, the primary's done. It's, uh, they're gonna... It's for Iowa Senate, so he's... Yeah, I don't think he would've wa-
[00:22:46] Andrea: The general, okay
[00:22:49] Carmen: not wait, it's not a waste to endorse somebody in the primaries, but I don't think he would do that. I
[00:22:54] Andrea: Yeah. The-- I, I just wasn't sure, um, about that, but it makes more sense that it's after the primary, right? You don't wanna, like... I, I, and I agree with this to a certain extent, like people don't wanna put their thumb on the scale. They just wanna like let the people choose and then go out and campaign.
[00:23:10] Carmen: Yeah. I just thought that was surprising 'cause for some reason I thought it was a little early, but maybe not. I mean, we're into August tomorrow or in two days, right? And, so I guess it's not too early. But, I do think it's time for leaders with, cachet to start spending it. 'Cause if you're not gonna do it now, when are you gonna do it, you know?
[00:23:31] Carmen: I was wondering what you felt about that. I don't think endorsements matter as m- I really don't think they matter as much, but they do help emphasize something that you wouldn't be looking at. You know what I mean?
[00:23:43] Andrea: and they get attention, right? So it, it highlights a person and g- has people at least take a look at them when maybe they wouldn't before or, or, you know, as I'm always saying, helps them check in maybe a little bit. You know, is it like, "Oh, Barack Obama likes this guy, so boop," you know, "I'm not gonna even think about it."
[00:24:01] Andrea: You know, not necessarily, I don't think. But, um, yeah,
[00:24:06] Carmen: oh, Barack Obama likes this guy, let me check him out,
[00:24:09] Andrea: Ex-- yeah, exactly. Right? It gets you the attention, which is what you need
[00:24:13] Carmen: Right, and, and that's why when celebrities get involved too, I don't mind it so much because what they're doing is highlighting and making someone more visible that maybe wouldn't have been. And you know what? They have a platform.
[00:24:26] Carmen: I don't know why people get so upset. People get so angst. Uh, of course, if they were voting for your person, maybe you'd be okay with it. Like, that's the difference, right? But, um, speaking of celebrities, do you even know who that guy is that does... who plays Reacher?
[00:24:40] Andrea: I've never even heard of that show. Is it a show or a movie or I don't even know
[00:24:45] Carmen: Oh, Andrea, did you see the clip?
[00:24:48] Andrea: mean, yeah, I saw it and he's a, a fine looking man and I saw the, you know, the clip that you sent me and I was like, "Yes, this is how we all feel. This is the rage, the everyday rage that we are walking around with."
[00:25:01] Carmen: Yeah, so let's watch that first.
[00:25:03] It's like people, I think, are a little bit afraid of me because they're like, "He's a loose cannon." And I'm not. I'm just saying the that everybody should say if they give a about humanity. You know what would happen if, like, everybody felt like me? Everybody felt like... I just ta- I was just... See, I gotta stay careful.
[00:25:19] I left Dax Shepard. I just did Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. I went on a god rant that I left like, I was like, "That's just not... Man, that's just not me." "I shouldn't be, I shouldn't say those things 'cause people are gonna start to get like, 'He's scary.'" No, no. I, you know, but I just, like, he goes, um, "Maybe you should rel- let go of that stuff."
[00:25:37] And I'm like, "Let go?" I was like, "Everybody else should have it. Everybody else should feel like I feel." The world is on fire. And then, and the world... Yeah. Like, all mad about the way things are and the abuses that are happening every- the Epstein files. The Epstein files. God it. Where are they? It's a law,
[00:25:54] Show it, you pedophiles. I shouldn't say because I'm a Christian, and people are gonna go like, "How can he say ? He's a Christian." Because that is something that should make you wanna say . Yeah. You know? Sorry. God, I'm sweating now. I just, this is my politics, dude. I would railroad these . I would get those Epstein files out in two seconds.
[00:26:13] Yeah, dude. I, two seconds. move out of the way. Don't you wanna see what's in there so that we can hold people accountable, these rapists? We're just cool with it? That has the keys to the nuclear c- he's like, like, all up into 13-year-olds. Like, dude, what? Go to jail. Go to jail. All right, what are we talking about?
[00:26:30] Carmen: Okay. So I've-- the show Reacher is on, I don't know, one of the streaming platforms, and I remember about, uh, a year ago or two years ago, one of the people I used to go walking with, um, this woman, we started walking and then we stopped walking together, but she was like, "Oh my God, I love this guy, Alan..."
[00:26:53] Carmen: His name is Alan, Alan Richison, something like that. Alan Richison. And, um, she was like, "This show is so good. He's so good-looking." I watched one episode, and I was like, "This is not my thing. It's not my thing. It's just not my thing." and you know, he's good-looking, but he's huge. Like, he's,
[00:27:12] Andrea: Oh, okay
[00:27:13] Carmen: like 6'3" and like, I don't know.
[00:27:16] Andrea: Just a big dude
[00:27:17] Carmen: Just a big dude scares me. But anyways, but then I started watching Happy Sat with this podcast and that he was on, and I, I have to say, I was watching it, this is gonna be so silly, but I love that he's wearing the earrings. Like, I just, I... So
[00:27:33] Andrea: I don't think I even noticed that.
[00:27:35] Carmen: Oh my God, yeah, the earrings. Love them. Like, he just looks so sexy to me.
[00:27:40] Carmen: He's wearing... I don't know. I love a man who is just comfortable in his isms and doing whatever he's doing or whatever. And he is very Christian. He's very religious and very Christian and, and, and that might have been a big turn-off for me in the beginning, too. Child, I watched all three, all three seasons the other day 'cause I saw him on the podcast.
[00:28:02] Andrea: What is, what's it about?
[00:28:04] Andrea: What's the premise of the show?
[00:28:07] Carmen: So he's... Okay, the truth is, um, I never watched the Tom Cruise thing, but it's based on a book. There's a book series. Um, and so Reacher is this guy who, he's like ex-military and he, um, he's like... What?
[00:28:26] Andrea: Said I'm out. No, go
[00:28:27] Andrea: ahead.
[00:28:27] Carmen: this is what I mean. That's what I'm saying. All the things that you and I are like, "Yeah, it's not..."
[00:28:31] Carmen: Yeah, and he's huge. By the way, okay, so he's ex- he's ex-military, but it first starts out in the first season, he's walking on a road. He's a loner. He's really quiet. You know, he's very to himself. And he walks into a town and you don't know why. And then crimes start happening around him, and he gets arrested.
[00:28:51] Carmen: And, um, they're trying to figure out who he is, and he doesn't talk, only when he wants to. So there's a lot of this... Like, you get to-- It's actually, you'll like it if you can get through, like, the first two episodes, 'cause I was like... But now that I like him, like him, it was easier to watch, 'cause then I was like, "Okay, I'm gonna wait and see what's happening."
[00:29:12] Carmen: Um, every season h- he's trying to figure out a crime that's happening, and then you learn more about who he is in the military. And he has this amazing group of people that he work, that they were part of a, a, a secret group in the military that used to try to fix and help people or whatever. And so some of those people are still in his life, and he calls them.
[00:29:37] Carmen: So it's like a crime, but he's not a police officer, but he works with the police when he can. It's not funny. It's, yeah. He's hot, though. He's hot. Hot as hell.
[00:29:52] Andrea: I, I, I didn't mind watching the clip 17 times.
[00:29:58] Carmen: I don't know. But now,
[00:30:00] Andrea: I say that again?
[00:30:01] Carmen: I know he's really cute, but he's, but his personal- I think what made it interesting was his personality in these clips on these podcasts that he's doing is the complete...
[00:30:13] Carmen: Like, he's a really good actor, Andrea, because when you watch the show you're like, he's so broody. He's so like mean. Like, he's so, I don't know. And then, and so that's why I think it was kinda interesting that I was like, oh my God, who is this adorable man? Like, just hot, sexy man, and yeah. Try to watch it.
[00:30:35] Carmen: I'd be curiou- No, you don't have to watch... I watched all three seasons, and I have to say the first season's the best. I, the second and third I had
[00:30:42] Andrea: It's like a case per season? Is that what you're saying?
[00:30:45] Carmen: Basically, I, I think a lot of series do this now, like they, you know, like, before you'd have a case in one episode, you know, like Murder She Wrote or whatever
[00:30:56] Andrea: Or our favorite, um, and I can't-- the wild cards, right? They do a case every episode.
[00:31:01] Carmen: Yeah, wild cards, yeah. But wild cards is really different 'cause, 'cause you know, he's... Ain't nothing wrong with that
[00:31:08] Carmen: boy. He ain't too big or too small or too nothing.
[00:31:13] Andrea: That's right.
[00:31:15] Carmen: He's so perfect. Also, I think I have an issue with tattoos. I
[00:31:20] Andrea: Oh, does this guy have tattoos?
[00:31:22] Carmen: in real life,
[00:31:23] Andrea: Oh, okay
[00:31:24] Carmen: so on the show, I don't, I, they, they cover- he has 22 tattoos that his makeup artist covers up.
[00:31:32] Andrea: God, what a pain in the ass.
[00:31:33] Carmen: Yeah. Uh, but so in real life, you see it in the clip, he has all the tattoos. I think I have... I don't care. I think it's lovely that people wanna get tattoos, but some- I'm not attracted to men. I mean, I'm attracted. He's hot as hell. I wouldn't throw him out of bed is what I'm saying. But, uh, that's so wrong. I don't think I can leave that in there.
[00:32:00] Carmen: Like Oh my God. Culture and Consequence After Dark. He is fine. There's no doubt about it, right? He is fine as all hell, but I just, I don't know what it is. Like tattoos, that many, I don't know. Is that a weird thing? I don't know
[00:32:20] Andrea: No, it's, it's not my thing either. Like, I'm not, you know.
[00:32:24] Carmen: But you have tattoos
[00:32:25] Andrea: I do, but I don't like-- I, I'm not-- I wouldn't be like, "Oh, tattoos. Let me take a second look," when I wouldn't normally take a second look. You know what I mean? Like that, like it's just not, you know, especially if
[00:32:37] Carmen: tell everyone your tattoo, you have a big Jesus on the back, right?
[00:32:43] Andrea: And then I've got a Mary down my leg. Um,
[00:32:46] Carmen: Hail Mary down the leg. But you do have a huge tattoo. You do
[00:32:49] Andrea: It's not huge. It's like this big. It's like a two-inch square.
[00:32:56] Carmen: Okay, we'll talk about it afterwards. Okay, wait. I'm just saying, so you're not attracted to men with tattoos either, so I'm not crazy
[00:33:03] Andrea: Um, no, I mean, it's not All things being equal, a man with tattoos, a man without tattoos, I'm choosing the man without
[00:33:15] Carmen: Hmm. Interesting. Yeah. Interesting. I'm not opposed. I have to say whenever I see a man who's very comfortable in his everything, like, I, I'm not saying I'm attracted to men who wear earrings, but when I saw the earrings on him, I was like, "Let me watch this. This is that guy from that show that I have no interest in ever watching."
[00:33:39] Carmen: And he's so adorable. Like, he's actually adorable. And I have to tell you, watching the show, he's a, he's a really good actor. Completely different. I, I was shooketh by that. But, um, yeah, I, I'm not a tattoo... I wouldn't say no to somebody because they have tattoos. Um, but yeah, all things being equal, it's just not my thing, and I don't know why
[00:34:07] Andrea: Yeah, I don't-- I mean, it's not like a moral thing. It's, for me, it's more just like I, like, as a person with tattoos, like, I think the body is nicer without them. That's just my preference.
[00:34:20] Carmen: But why did you get your tattoos then?
[00:34:22] Andrea: It was the fucking '90s, Carmen. Like just
[00:34:26] Carmen: I was in the '90s. I didn't get no tattoos
[00:34:28] Andrea: I was like a club person and I was out with my fucking hip hugger jeans and like it was just a thing that you did.
[00:34:35] Andrea: Like,
[00:34:36] Carmen: I got a belly button ring, so I can't
[00:34:38] Andrea: Oh, see, I never did that.
[00:34:40] Carmen: I totally was the belly button ring and got rid of it, like, I think, I don't know, a month later. I was like, "Okay, this is not..." And it got infected. It was so stupid. And I still have the mark there. Like, it's closed up, but it's so... Yeah, I was that. I, I, I would not get a tattoo.
[00:34:57] Carmen: All my friends had, like, all my friends had gotten tattoos. I would not get a tattoo, but I got the belly button ring thing. Yeah. And, and extra holes that I never really use in my ears.
[00:35:09] Andrea: I onl- I have two and I only use one, so
[00:35:11] Andrea: like, you know, everyone, like, again, it's not like a judgment, it's just sort of everyone has their thing and, you know, whatever
[00:35:18] Carmen: Yeah. I think it's also that they're, like, the, the tattoos always are some scary, big, like, like even if you look at... Well, because you watch the, the video and he talks about, clearly I've gone down the rabbit hole of watching more stuff about him, 'cause you know me. Once I'm into something, you know, like Giacomo, ask me anything.
[00:35:37] Carmen: I got you. I got I know everything about that child. Um, but you know, they're all these scar- they look like skulls and, and I think that's what it is too. It's like they're... And then there's a story behind them, and he has these great stories why, and it has a lot to do with his kids. And I'm like, "Okay, whatever."
[00:35:55] Carmen: But like
[00:35:57] Andrea: I mean, I'd be curious to hear the stories, but, you know, hmm
[00:36:01] Carmen: Yeah, but you wouldn't throw him out of bed either.
[00:36:03] Andrea: I would not. No, I would not. Let's be clear.
[00:36:09] Carmen: We are clear on this. Yeah. Yeah. He's adorable. I, you know, try to watch the show because it might be interesting to see what you think or whatever. Um, just a couple episodes. I, I actually-- And again, it's like they have these, um, romantic scenes with women, and it's, I'm like, "Yeah. Like, g- you're not doing it right."
[00:36:31] Carmen: You know? Like, not-- That could've been so much better, you know? 'Cause in every season he has a new woman, of course.
[00:36:38] Andrea: Oh, well, obviously.
[00:36:40] Carmen: The third season, I will warn you of this if, if you get that far, 'cause it'll be interesting. The woman has this Boston accent 'cause it's happening, it, it's
[00:36:55] Andrea: I
[00:36:55] Carmen: It's so bad, and she's British.
[00:36:57] Carmen: I had to look her up.
[00:36:58] Carmen: She's British doing a Boston accent, and I'm like, that's... I don't know why people always try to do this. There's no... I'm from Boston. I don't have a Boston accent. Like, and I have never had a Boston accent. If anything, people will think I'm from New York, but even that, I-- like, being from Boston doesn't mean everybody's like, "Park your car."
[00:37:18] Carmen: Like, not everybody talks like that. Jeez. But
[00:37:23] Andrea: Okay
[00:37:23] Carmen: yeah. Check it out. It'll be interesting.
[00:37:25] Carmen: Yeah. People check out Reacher. I'll be interested to see what people think about that show. I don't know a lot of people who watch...
[00:37:31] Carmen: I think a lot of people watch it now, and it's, uh, around the world, has billions of streams. I just didn't know about it. But now that he's been doing all this- Mm-hmm
[00:37:41] Andrea: Why is he, is, is he, is there a reason why he's out and about, or is that just normal promotion?
[00:37:47] Carmen: I don't, I've never... I heard about it from that person,
[00:37:51] Carmen: and I never watched it after the first episode. I couldn't get through the first episode, and I was like, "Okay, he's hot, but I don't really care." You know what I mean? 'Cause he's so broody and not my type at all. Um, I don't know why, but he's on all the podcasts right now.
[00:38:06] Carmen: He's all over the place, so... Oh, oh, I know why. He has a movie coming out. That's what it is. So he's doing all this podcasting because he has a movie coming out that's like a silent movie, and it's called Motor something. I'm sorry?
[00:38:20] Andrea: A silent
[00:38:21] Carmen: It's a silent movie?
[00:38:22] Carmen: Motor City, and it's a, it's a script that's been out in Hollywood since like 2009 or something.
[00:38:29] Carmen: People have been trying to get this film made, and it's gone through the hands of so many celebrities, so many people, and nobody, and he got it done. That's why he's out there promoting so much
[00:38:39] Andrea: I was actually, interestingly, um, sitting at a Starbucks near my mechanic waiting for my car to be worked on. I was like, "This is gonna take all day." There was a movie theater there, and I was like... You know, there was, like, a list of movies. It was, like, Moana and whatever. And then the Motor City was one of them, and so I'm, you know, I Googled it 'cause I was like, "All right, what's that about?
[00:39:03] Andrea: Maybe I'll go watch that." Um, I didn't end up going to watch a movie, but, uh, but it did sound interesting. I didn't realize it was silent.
[00:39:11] Carmen: It's a si- there's no dialogue, and, um, so, so, so that's different than si- I haven't seen it, but it's no dialogue, um, or very little dialogue. It's like a silent movie and, um, he got it done, and that's what he's promoting, and that's why he's been on all the podcasts or whatever. And then of course his outrage about what's happening to our country, just he can't contain himself, and it's, like, so fucking adorable.
[00:39:38] Carmen: And I'm like, "Oh my God, I love you. You're so hot now. You're even hotter." Yeah.
[00:39:43] Andrea: Well, and just like I'm, I'm, you know, I remember in the fricking Bush years, I was like, "Where is the outrage? Why are we not all screaming every single day?" And it's just gotten worse and worse and worse. So it was kind of cathartic to see someone do it.
[00:39:58] Carmen: it's hard to keep getting that upset, but when you see somebody else and he's so passionate, you know what I mean? It's like, okay, thank you. Good. Oh my God. Like,
[00:40:07] Andrea: I'm just like, "Thank God someone else is outraged."
[00:40:10] Carmen: God, 'cause it's get- you know, it's hard to keep being like this upset about stuff, and it's like, yeah.
[00:40:15] Carmen: So yeah, that's why he's out there, Motor City. I'm gonna go see it because I like him now. I would've, and I never want to go see a silent film at all, but I will because... And that's what's good about him promoting the film and
[00:40:27] Carmen: showing his beautifulness, 'cause now we're all, like, intrigued. So yeah. Well, everyone, thank you so much for hanging out.
[00:40:35] Carmen: Check out Reacher. I have no connection to it, but it, you know, I watched it. You have to watch it, too. Um, be pissed about senators who are screaming at Dr. Fauci, and please go read those journals. They're available online because the dumbass thinks they're doing a bad thing by putting those out there.
[00:40:53] Carmen: Yeah, read something, watch The West Wing, American President, and remember, at the end of the day, it really is all about the joy. Bye, everyone.
